Defining Characteristics of Cnidarians
1) Radially Symmetrical.
2) Blind sac gut (coelenteron or gastrovascular
cavity)
4) Two different forms exist, medusa and polyp
5) Nematocysts (specialized stinging capsules)
6) Has a simple net like nervous system.
7) Lack excretory, circulatory & respiratory systems
8) Diploblastic (have two layers of tissue) with mesoglea
9) Mostly carnivorous otherwise filter feeders.
10) May have a minimal skeleton of chiton or calcium carbonate. (Ocean Classrooms)
